1981 Bristol VR

1981 Bristol VR 70 seat Double Decker Bus was originally operated by Southdown Motor Services on the company’s south coast routes.

This Bristol model was the last double decker built by the company and replaced the Bristol Lodekka. The Bristol VR being flat fronted with a rear engine rather than the half cab design of the Lodekka with engine next to the driver with the passenger entrance behind in front wheel. The Bristol VR has the front entrance and is the same as the modern buses of today.

The Bristol VR’s current external livery and interior trim is still the same as the original National Bus Company colours as Southdown was a subsidiary of The National Bus Company.

A Ticket machine along with hat and white coat can be provided on request for the aspiring guest who wishes to play the part of Bus Conductor.
