The History of Nostalgia Travel
The Skinner family has a long history in the coach industry which started in 1928 when Peters father Percy at the age of 20 joined his father in the purchase of their first coach a Morris 14 seat coach. Percy then operated several Bedford OBs during the 50s and 60s all of which were replaced over the years with more modern vehicles.
Peter joined his father Percy in 1970 and continued with that operation until 1987 when it was decided to concentrate on the school transport market thus forming The School Bus and Coach Company.
Nostalgia Travel holds the Operators Licence under which the Nostalgia vehicles are operated, along with carrying out all maintenance and restoration of the Nostalgia vehicles all of which are fully licensed Public Service Vehicles along with fully qualified drivers.
Having always had a strong interest in classic vehicles Peter started the Nostalgia Travel business in 1988 with the purchase of the 1949 Bedford 29 Seater Coach. The fleet has expanded over the years with five double decker buses along with six classic cars and taxis covering the period from the 1930s to the early 1970s.
Peter manages Nostalgia on a personal basis and is able to advise customers who wish to move large numbers of guests into and around the City of Oxford. With the Bedford coach and buses we have the capability of moving 370 passengers at one time, which solves the problem of parking and other restrictions allowing all the guests to arrive on time and all together.
Our Chauffer driven wedding cars offer a very personal service too, with the chauffer in his traditional grey suit, hat and gloves. We also provide a complimentary half bottle of champagne for the happy couple after the ceremony.
A special London themed package can be offered with the two London Routemasters and the two London Taxis.
