1936 Armstrong Siddeley

    • This majestic car is one of the most desirable for weddings with its fold-down sun roof. You can enjoy the nice weather in the open air, or have the hood-up for extra privacy and comfort. Our Armstrong Siddeley was the first of only 60 built and is believed to have been exhibited at the 1936 motor show at Olympia.

     

    The exterior colour is cream with cobalt blue wings and roof. The interior has grey cloth fabric, wooden finishing touches and blue carpet.


    History snap-shot of the year . . .

    1936 is famous as the year that King George V died. His eldest son, Edward VIII accessed to the throne only to abdicate towards the end of the year, in preference for a life with American divorcee Wallace Simpson.

    1937 Austin Taxi

    Our 1937 London taxi with bespoke bodywork by Jones Coachbuilder (London), features a luggage compartment for trunks beside the driver. It's typical of the sort of cab that plied the streets of the capital over 80 years ago.

     

    With its high roof and wide door’s our taxi is ideal for brides to enter with ease. The fold-down sun roof allows you to enjoy the fine weather and is also most photogenic. The seating is blue and can accommodate four travellers. A half bottle of champagne is included with taxi hire.

    1955 Bentley

    • This classic car is a beautiful example of the Bentley ‘R’ design. Our Bentley exudes glamour and sophistication. The exterior colours are shell silver over black. The interior will seat four adults in the luxurious burgundy leather seats, which are surrounded by wonderful walnut woodwork and red carpeting throughout.

     

    This car is thought to be the only Bentley ‘R’ type available for hire in Oxfordshire.


    History snap-shot of the year . . .

    In April 1955 Winston Churchill resigned as Prime Minister, due to ill health. And in September ITV started broadcasting programmes in competition with the BBC.
